The Soddy Daisy High School Band Boosters Association is a parent organization that supports and promotes all Band and Color Guard curricular and co-curricular activities at Soddy-Daisy High School. All parents and/or guardians of students in the band organization may be members of the Association.
Here are some of the Band Boosters Activities:
Communication: We try to keep the band parents informed about band and booster activities.
Food: We provide snacks, drinks, and meals for the band on many, many, many, many, many occasions.
Fundraising: An active, high-quality band program is expensive. We raise money to help pay expenses.
Travel Arrangements: We help make band travel arrangements (bus, hotel, etc.). We provide directions so families can attend competitions. We also help arrange chaperones for these trips.
Fun events: We coordinate fun activities (picnic, band trips, etc.) for band members and band families.
Sewing and general care of uniforms: Band and color guard uniforms need to be fitted, repaired, cleaned, etc.
Qualifications for Band Parents
It's so simple. You need to be the parent (or grandparent, or god-parent, or foster parent, or step-parent, or adoptive parent, or great grandparent, or even "just like a parent") of a band member. You also qualify if you are a legal guardian, court appointed surrogate, trustee in chancery, Big Brother/Big Sister or close aunt or uncle of a band member (or Regent of a band member of royal blood who is heir presumptive or better). Band Parents' Organizations properly use the widest possible definition of "parent." They say it takes a whole village to raise a child. All the adults in that village should be band parents!
